Talking minor

This bird which is a native of Asia belongs to the Starling family and is of glossy, shining black plumage, glistening with violet and purple tints. There is a bar of white on the wings and yellow patches on the head.

He is of lively, active habits and is by many considered a better and plainer talker than any of the parrot species, being one of the few birds which will almost always reply when spoken to, and his voice is quite clear and plain. They will not only imitate the human voice, but whistle a tune, and their voices seem to have a great variety of tones.

It is useless, however, to attempt to teach them to talk unless their education begins when the birds are quite young.
